What this data does not tell you
- It is a 30 m map classified by algorithm: small patches and edges get confused, and a pixel's class in a given year can be wrong.
- It covers Brazil only. In Canada the platforms use AAFC and NTEMS VLCE2; in the United States, NLCD.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get the MapBiomas history of a rural property?
In Camposcope, search the property by its CAR code or click the map: it shows land cover from 1985 to 2025 inside the property and in rings up to 5 km, and exports the numbers as a spreadsheet.
Can I see MapBiomas around a point, without a property?
Yes, in Naturametrics: click anywhere in Brazil and it computes land cover in rings from 0.5 to 10 km, year by year.
