GBIF species occurrences within a radius, on a map, with each record's quality

What this data does not tell you
- A record's location is not always where the organism was seen or collected: many older records carry the coordinate of the municipality or the collection, and pile up on a single point.
- No record is not absence of the species: GBIF only holds what has been published.
- The map shows up to 1,500 records per view; species counts come from GBIF's full totals.
Frequently asked questions
How do I list GBIF species within a radius of a point?
In Naturametrics, click the point and open the GBIF layer: it counts records and species in each ring and shows the records on the map.
Why do so many GBIF records fall on the same point?
Because they were georeferenced to the municipality, a station or an eBird location, not the exact spot. The Mello Leitão museum story shows a case with thousands of records on one coordinate.
